Oukaimeden to Toubkal - 5 days

 

Day 1: Walk from the Oukaimeden Refuge to the summit of Jebel Oukaimeden which rises to 3257 m. Then its down to the col for lunch followed by an ascent to the Tizi'n'Ouardi  pass. Then we descend to Tachedirt and stay in another CAF Refuge.


Day 2: After leaving the Refuge, we follow the Tachedirt valley passing through small villages until we reached the pass of Tizi 'n Tamatert at 2200 m. We descent into Tamatert village where we will spend the night.


Day 3: Today we continue gaining height as we follow the Mizane valley to the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. Here we stop for the now familiar mint tea refreshments. We then continued to gain height to the Nelther Refuge.


Day 4: Today we make an early (6 am) start as we climb Mt. Toubkal, at 4167 m the highest peak in North Africa and Morocco. On the summit we stop for 30 minutes for pictures, whilst admiring a splendid view of many miles in all directions before descending back to the Nelther refuge for lunch. After Lunch we descended back down our previous day route back into Aroumd, once again staying in a village hut.


Day 5: Today is a very short day with under an hour to walk as we descended from the village house in Aroumd into Imlil. From Imlil we transfer back to Marrakech.
